Simon De Schepper is een Belgische fotograaf, geboren in Aalst in 1962.

Hij woont en werkt in Brussel, België.

Zijn werk beweegt tussen mens en landschap. In zijn beelden onderzoekt hij hoe we als mens verbonden blijven met een groter geheel, ondanks de versnelling en fragmentatie van het moderne leven.

De natuur vormt daarbij een stille onderstroom. Bossen, licht, mist en open ruimtes worden plaatsen van reflectie waar de menselijke aanwezigheid bijna fluisterend verschijnt. In die fragiele ontmoeting tussen mens en omgeving zoekt hij naar momenten van verstilling, kwetsbaarheid en innerlijke kracht.

Hij benadert fotografie als een contemplatieve praktijk, waarin beelden ruimte maken voor vragen rond zelfkennis, verbondenheid en de rituelen die ons bestaan betekenis geven in een aards leven dat voorbijgaat. Daarbij zoekt hij naar iets dat zich laat vermoeden.

Simon De Schepper is a Belgian photographer whose work moves between human presence and landscape. Through his images he explores how people remain connected to a larger whole despite the acceleration and fragmentation of contemporary life.

Nature forms a quiet undercurrent in his work. Forests, light, mist and open spaces become places of reflection where human presence appears almost like a whisper. In this fragile encounter between people and their surroundings, he searches for moments of stillness, vulnerability and inner strength.

His photography begins with a slow and attentive way of seeing. Small gestures, subtle shifts of light, or the barely perceptible atmosphere of a place can carry an image. De Schepper approaches photography as a contemplative practice, creating space for questions of self-knowledge, connection and the rituals through which we try to give meaning to our lives.

His work moves between poetry and observation, between what is visible and what can only be sensed.
